Principal Dentist

Dr James Wong graduated from the University of Western Australia in 1996 with a Bachelor of Dental Science. In 2002, he became the owner and principal dentist of Council Avenue Dental & Implant Centre in Rockingham.

Dr Wong leads a multi-practitioner team, general dental practice in a modern, state-of-the-art facility offering digital x-rays, laser dentistry, cosmetic dentistry and implant dentistry in combination with excellent patient care. He has always had a keen interest and exceptional skill in dental implant surgery and oral surgery. 

With twenty years of surgical experience behind him, he is still always striving for excellence in clinical dentistry. He has completed thousands of implant cases with great success, helping to improve the quality of life for many individuals who would otherwise be still struggling with their dentures. 

His empathy towards his patients is reflected in his gentle and kind manner throughout the whole experience. His commitment to providing the most up-to-date treatment modalities to his patients is second to none. Dr Wong is a member of the Australasian Osseointegration Society and the Australian Dental Association.

He undertook further formal training and holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Dental Implantology (2011) He has also been awarded the status of Fellowship from the International Congress of Oral Implantologists (2011). He is one of the first two Western Australian dentists that were accepted into a prestigious Post Graduate Diploma programme at Charles Sturt University in NSW. His dental implant career started when he undertook a year of training at the Brener Implant Institute in NSW in 2007, which trains dentists exclusively in the field of Implant Dentistry. In 2009 Dr Wong was fortunate enough to have another year of hands-on training in advanced implant surgery from one of the world’s leading experts in implant dentistry, Professor Hom-Lay Wang, who is the programme director at the University of Michigan. 

As well as the intensive training, Dr Wong is also consistently attending local and overseas conferences and seminars in the field of implant dentistry and oral surgery. He has also completed two years of further study at Goethe University Frankfurt – Master of Oral Implantology 2014.

Dr Wong regularly mentors dentists in the field of dental implantology and oral surgery. He chairs a regular study club in the area or implantology and often carries out one on one training for other dentists.

Dr Wong’s surgery, Garden City Implant & Dental, is a new boutique practice which has just undergone a major renovation. It is now state-of-the-art, and we can't wait to show it off.
