While veneers are not a permanent restoration, they are irreversible. With proper care and maintenance, they can last up to 10 years but will need to be replaced over time. Still, they are designed to be comfortable, natural-looking, and affordable.

What Are Dental Veneers?

Tooth veneers are wafer-thin shells designed to adhere to the front surface of your tooth. Once bonded, they help conceal minor smile flaws such as chips, cracks, stains, misalignment, crowded teeth, and more.

The Dental Veneer Procedure

During your initial visit, we examine your teeth and gums to look for underlying oral health issues and determine if veneers are a good option for you. We will go over the treatment, alternatives, and answer any questions, so you make the best choice for yourself. We make impressions of your teeth and take digital x-rays to help us custom-fabricate it.

Dr Wong removes a small amount of enamel to ensure a proper and tight fit. We create a temporary dental veneer to protect your tooth from sensitivity while your permanent veneer is fabricated.

Once it is completed, we trim and reshape the veneer so that it fits perfectly before bonding it. During your dental checkups with Dr James Wong, we examine your restoration to see how well the gums are responding to the veneer and if there are any issues.

Your Veneer Aftercare

Veneers will likely need to be replaced due to wear and tear, but proper care can extend their shelf life:

  • Twice-yearly dental checkups allow us to identify potential issues.
  • Avoid chewing on hard foods, candy, ice, fingernails, or pens and pencils.
  • Please don't use your teeth as a tool, even though they are convenient when there are no scissors around.
  • Always keep up your oral hygiene by brushing and flossing daily.
